Tonight Watch Nas on BET’s THE MESSAGE
Tune into BET this evening for the second part of their four-part documentary exploring hip hop culture, THE MESSAGE, featuring Nas, Russell Simmons, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams, and more.
This evening, BET will premier the second installment of their four-part docu-series, THE MESSAGE. The documentary, which premiered last week, takes a look into the history and development of hip hop culture from it’s inception in the streets of the South Bronx. Covering more than 40 years of history, the series features intimate and exclusive interviews from some of hip hop’s most influential contributors including Russell Simmons, Nas, Ice Cube, Fab Five Freddy, Clive Davis, and more. The first episode chronicled the birth of hip hop in New York and it’s independent spread across America to California without the support or endorsement from mainstream media through block parties and the popularity of DJ Kool Herc’s sound system and the infectious rhymes of the Universal Zulu Nation and Grandmaster Flash.
Other contributors to the series include Birdman, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, MC Lyte, Master P, LL Cool J, Big Boi, Bun B, 2 Chainz, Eve, Angie Martinez, Funkmaster Flex, Luther Campbell, Clive Davis, Mona Scott-Young, Questlove, A$AP Rocky, E-40, David Banner, Nelson George, Big Tigger and Sway. The documentary will also feature the final on-air interview from the late Chris Lighty, who was recognized as a strong force in driving the culture along.
Episode Two of THE MESSAGE will premier tonight at 10pm EST.
